Community Litter Clean Up

The SMCA volunteers meets once a quarter to clean up litter around the communities of Slater and Marietta.

Community Blessing Boxes

The SMCA installed a Community Blessing Box in the parking lot of Slater Baptist Church located on Whitney St. Slater.

The box will provide non-perishable food items for residents facing homelessness and families in need.

Donations are always needed. Donated items needed include canned goods with pop tops, peanut butter, canned meats, crackers, instant breakfast items, water, and ready to serve meals.

River Falls Rehabilitation Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

Christmas Carols, Hot Chocolate, and Cookies for the patients at River Falls Rehabilitation Center during the Christmas Holidays. The SMCA planted a Northern Spruce Pine to decorate each year.

Future S/M Community Library

A generous donation of more than 1000 books from a private book collection was donated to the future Slater-Marietta Community Library. The SMCA is raising money in hopes of opening a Community Library in 2022! The Library will provide Wi-Fi access, computers, educational literature, and a location for community classes to enhance and encourage education. In 2022, the SMCA successfully found a location to house the library at 3018 Geer Hwy. Marietta, SC 29661. Donations and a private funding will assist financing the renovations of the library.

Slater Marietta Senior Action

When the Slater-Marietta Senior Action site was scheduled to close in 2019. The SMCA worked with County Councilman Joe Dill, Senior Action, Greenville County Recreation and Tourism, and Meals on Wheels to continue a Senior Program located at Slater Hall Community Center.

  • The program operates Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 am until 1:00 p.m. Meals are available.

  • Seniors 55+ interested in joining the program can contact Zachary Deuerling at 864-451-3813.

  • Senior activities for residents of Slater, Marietta, and surrounding communities the opportunity to stay active, build strength, increase mobility, and longevity.
